I haven’t written in a very long time. And it’s not even that I have something in particular I want to write about, it’s just that I felt it was necessary I update myself on what’s been going on lately. Just a few reminders for me, if you will.
So school started. It’s been interesting, I guess. This semester doesn’t seem like it will be too terrible, with the exception of massive quantities of reading that I’ll have to do. That’s what I get for being in two English classes and an honors class that requires tons of daily reading. But oh well. A couple of my classes are basically “blow off” classes, which is somewhat exciting for me because I’ve never taken a “blow off” class before. Art appreciation is a big waste of time, but seems like it will be easy. Stat is…well, I couldn’t actually tell you, I haven’t been to a lecture yet. They’re all recorded on tegrity, and so my game plan is to watch all the lectures from the comfort of my own bed. I suppose I should get on that soon.
Though some of my classes won’t be too tough, as usual, everything else piles up quickly. I’ve started planning recruitment for my sorority (even though it’s not until the end of August…yeah, it’s a huge process). Suddenly that’s taken over a large part of my life with constant meetings and reports. I’ll be working 5 hours a week for Tour Team this semester, which will be fantastic, as usual. I recently got a committee for AASB, so I’ll be serving on the True Tiger committee which seems like it’ll be a lot of fun. Project Sol is finally getting underway, as well, and as PR chair I’m working with my committee to promote our events for this semester. Oh yeah, and I’m training for that marathon still…
However, getting the flu late last week through a big kink in things. I haven’t ran since Thursday, which is thoroughly depressing. I had to skip my 11 mile long run this weekend because of my flu. It’s really annoying. It’s also impossible to recover from the flu when you can’t stop your life. This was the busiest weekend I’ve had in a long time (AASB new member retreat, KD official visit), and I was doing something literally all day both days. Exhausting, you can imagine, and even more exhausting when you’re sick. Needless to say, I’ve been taking plenty of cough syrup, mucinex, and ibuprofen. I might as well stick a straw in the bottle and slurp on that codeine all day. I mean, come on, it’s what Lil Wayne would do.
So aside from the sickness and the 10 inches of snow we got a week or two ago, the semester has been off to a decent start, I suppose. I’ve noticed that I’ve been feeling pretty apathetic ever since I got back to CoMo, though. And I’m not quite sure how to remedy it. I have this mindset that my classes don’t really require that much of me and that I don’t need to do my homework (which is completely false, because although 2 of my classes are a breeze, 3 of them are difficult and require a LOT of work). It’s hard to motivate myself to run when the temperature is frigid, too. I just need to get it together here pretty quick. And if it could turn springtime quickly too, I’d also appreciate that. But of course, Columbia’s forecasting 12-18 inches of snow in the next couple days, on top of some ice. I’m sure that’ll be glorious. We just can’t catch a break.
This was all pretty useless, but I’m hoping that writing this will stimulate my mind and give me reason to write something of value. I guess we’ll see.
